I Just lost my PCH virginity

I’ve lived in the bay area for almost 5 years now, but today was the first day I drove up to Stinson beach. I was not disappointed by all the corners highway 1 challenged me with.

I love my car now. The weather was great and the traffic was light.

I must go there again.

My only experience of it is 14 year old me and the rest of my family being terrified that my dad was taking the corners too fast in our rental Sentra.

Makes me want to do a cross-country roadtrip.

My great uncle lived there for almost 40 years, but always had boring cars. He could afford drive Bentleys and Rolls Royces, but he had a CRV and a Saturn wagon. I’m not saying it's bad to be frugal, but he could have had a fun sports car for the mountains.

Same thing for my dad, he could afford new S-class. He just saves his money. He just just drop lots of $ on a 2016 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn, fully loaded. Other then that he has always had basic modes of transportation.

First time I drove PCH up to Stinson Beach I was scaring my gf driving her mini ‘too fast’ in the corners.

Then saw a wrx crashed into the water and slowed down.

It is prettyyyy long. It goes from like Half moon bay to Saratoga. So it would take like 2 hours at a normal pace or 1.5 hours on a brisk run.

You can take skyline all the way to 17. And you don’t have to stop there. But it starts getting VERY twisty and rough. My favorite Bay Area loop is 9 to skyline to La Honda to 1 to Ice Cream Grade to 9 again. La Honda is one of the very best driving/riding roads in the entire area. And it’s nice that Alice’s it right there at Skyline/La Honda.

That sounds awesome! I’ve taken Ice Cream grade to Hwy 1 and Bear Creek to Hwy 17 and Skyline to La Honda and Alice’s! We should go together sometime.

I’d be down. I did an after work run on my FZ6 Wednesday before last and it was amazing. No traffic and the few cars that were out there were very amenable to passing (Unlike the damn saturday minivans UGH). Maybe this upcoming Wednesday again? Meet in Saratoga?

I don’t really go over 70. Even with traffic we should make it to HWY1 by sunset. Last time I was just cruising and it was fine. BTW, is that your laguna blue miata in your other posts? I have that exact car in that color! A 1993.
